Emanuel Pogatetz has left Middlesbrough for Germany's Hannover.

Pogatetz, who previously played in the Bundesliga for Bayer Leverkusen, has signed a three-year deal.

"Emanuel is an experienced player who can also play on the left of the defence," said Hannover coach Mirko Slomka.

"He will expand our options in defence greatly."
