Podolski scores twice in Arsenal rout

Unsettled Arsenal striker Robin van Persie came off the bench as the Gunners ended their pre-season preparations with an emphatic 4-0 victory against Cologne.

The Dutchman took the captain's armband from Thomas Vermaelen after replacing Lukas Podolski in the 69th minute but got a muted reception from the travelling Arsenal fans.

Arsenal took the lead when Vermaelen powered in a header at the back post.

Podolski doubled the lead against his former club from the penalty spot in the 15th minute and got his second three minutes before half-time with a neat finish.

On 60 minutes, Gervinho cut in from the wing before slotting in at the near post to complete the win.
