Pochettino pondering rest for Tottenham star Kane

Mauricio Pochettino has suggested he could start Harry Kane on the bench for Tottenham on Thursday night.

Spurs take on Anderlecht in Brussels on their third Europa League fixture but their star striker may be rested after suffering a knock in last weekend's 0-0 draw with Liverpool.

Pochettino revealed that it was possible Kane may sit out the initial part of the contest with Cameroonian youngster Clinton N'Jie set to lead the attacking line.

"Yes maybe," Pochettino told Sky Sports News HQ when asked if he was thinking of resting Kane.

"N'Jie and Kane (are) today available. We need to assess because at the end of the game against Liverpool, Harry had a small problem. He had a knock, not an injury.

"It is possible he will start on the bench, as normal we need to manage in a good way and assess and analyse every little detail. The player always wants to play. Afterwards I decide if the player is wrong."
