Pochettino pleased as Spurs, Dele Alli bounce back from Europa exit

Mauricio Pochettino was delighted as Tottenham Hotspur recoiled from Thursday night's Europa League failure.

Spurs smashed Stoke City 4-0 at White Hart Lane on Sunday just days after they were held to a 2-2 draw by Belgian club Gent at Wembley which saw them exit from Europe 3-2 on aggregate.

On that night, Dele Alli was sent off for a poor challenge in the first half but just as his team did, the young midfielder bounced back with a bright scoring performance against the Potters which thrilled his manager.

"I'm very happy, it was a good response after Wembley on Thursday and they were fantastic. I was pleased with the performance and that's the way we need to keep going," Pochettino, who watched Harry Kane score a hat-trick, told Sky Sports.

"We kept the same formation from the Europa League game and I'm very happy because Dele Alli was fantastic.

"He showed very good maturity and you can see on the pitch that the problem from Thursday didn't affect him so I'm very pleased for him because he is a great kid."
