Pochettino not surprised that four Southampton players earn England call-up

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino says all four of his players deserved to be called up for England's friendly with Denmark.

Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino says all four of his players deserved to be called up for England's friendly with Denmark.

Teenage defender Luke Shaw has received his first senior call, while midfielder Adam Lallana and strikers Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez are also in the squad for the 5 March game at Wembley.

"Credit to them because all of our players who have been called up by England fully deserve it," says Pochettino.

"We have 17 players who have been called up for internationals next Wednesday. Maybe the club will be on holiday next week! These players now have an added motivation when they are playing for Southampton because they could go to the World Cup. That's massive."
