Pochettino not getting carried away with Tottenham title hopes

Mauricio Pochettino insists Tottenham are not thinking about the prospect of mounting a serious title challenge.

Spurs defeated West Ham United 4-1 on Sunday to move three points clear of the six-placed Hammers which sees them just in arrears of the likes of Manchester City and Arsenal, who both suffered defeats on Saturday.

Despite the convincing victory, Pochettino suggests it is far too early to worry about any title talk and is simply focusing on the job at hand as the Premier League season progresses.

"It is early to start talking about that, there is too far until the end of the season," Pochettino said.

"We have a young squad, we need to develop our way to be consistent. It is true we have shown from the beginning of the season we are consistent but to win the title we need more.

"It is step by step. It is difficult to say today what will happen in four or five months.

"We need to keep working hard and stay with our feet on the ground."

A brace from Harry Kane and a goal each to defenders Toby Alderweireld and Kyle Walker did the damage at White Hart Lane as Manuel Lanzini grabbed a late consolation for the visitors.
