Pochettino hails mature and patient Tottenham

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino was full of praise of his side's mature and patient performance in the 1-0 Europa League win over Azerbaijani club Qarabag.

With one game remaining, Spurs sealed their qualification into the last 32 of the tournament, thanks to a 78th-minute goal from Harry Kane, prompting a positive reaction from the boss.

"It was a tough game, Qarabag's first loss at home this season and an important win for us – three points and we're into the next round," said Pochettino.

"This was a good win for our mentality, we showed maturity and it was a strong performance.

"It's one of the big things in football, to keep working hard and to be patient when a team like Qarabag sits in deep.

"It's never easy but we're happy because we showed patience, maturity and we fully deserved the win.

"I'd also like to say thanks to our supporters. They deserve a lot of praise because it's a long, long way to come from London to Azerbaijan and that support is so valuable for us."
