Pochettino facing Southampton locker room revolt

New Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino faces a locker room revolt over the sacking of Nigel Adkins.

The Daily Mail says a number of the first-team squad were furious with Adkins's dismissal and have expressed concerns about the appointment of Pochettino.

Adkins, 47, was summoned to meet Saints executive chairman Nicola Cortese yesterday morning and dismissed.

Cortese then phoned club captain Adam Lallana, instructing him to break the news to his team-mates. It is believed a number of first-teamers have doubts about the former Espanyol coach.

The players are concerned about Pochettino speaking only minimal English, and there are also worries about his knowledge of the Premier League.
