Pochettino 'disappointed' as Tottenham crash out to Fiorentina

Tottenham were tonight eliminated from the Europa League at the hands of Italian club Fiorentina.

Spurs were beaten 2-0 by the Serie A side in Florence to fall 3-1 on aggregate following last week's 1-1 draw in north London in a result which clearly saddened manager Mauricio Pochettino.

"We are very disappointed. The players are disappointed but this is football," he told Spurs TV.

"The first goal was our mistake and after that it was difficult. I think we deserved more."

Mario Gomez gave La Viola the lead at the Stadio Artemio Franchi when slotting beyond Hugo Lloris in the 54th minute before Mohamed Salah, on loan from Chelsea, pounced on an error from Jan Vertonghen to fire home with less than 20 minutes remaining.
