Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino is delighted with their defensive strength this season.

They have conceded only three goals in nine league games - with six clean sheets - giving them the second-best defensive record, behind Roma, in the whole of Europe.

But Pochettino does not see defence in the traditional sense of simply a back four and goalkeeper.

"The first line of defence when we don't have the ball is Rickie Lambert so we are all defending at the same time," he said. "We want to keep possession and when we don't have it we are crazy to get it back. It is all about the collective work."
