Former Tottenham boss David Pleat says Sunderland manager Gus Poyet is very different to Paolo di Canio.

Poyet worked with Pleat at Spurs.

"They are different characters," Pleat, who managed Di Canio at Sheffield Wednesday, told the Daily Mail.

"Gus is single minded. Passionate. But he hasn't got Paolo's quirks.

"He is tough and strong but he isn't going to lose his temper and kick the dressing room door down."
