Playing alongside former Dutch international Jaliens can help get me to Europe - Chapman

Connor Chapman admits he is learning plenty from playing alongside former Holland international Kew Jaliens in the centre of the Newcastle Jets defence.

18-year old Young Socceroos star Chapman and 35-year old ex-AZ Alkmaar and Wisla Krakow defender Jaliens have conceded just two goals in the opening three A-League matches this season and the former is now setting his sights on a career in Europe with the help of his experienced mentor.

"He's played for the Netherlands, he's played for AZ Alkmaar and other quality teams," Chapman told au.fourfourtwo.com.

"The leagues he's played in and the players he's played with…for me to learn from him is great at this point of my career.

"The experience he brings is invaluable and it's a great thing to have next to me."

Of his future, Chapman added: "Every player wants to play at the highest level they can, and that means Europe. But I'm not in a hurry.

"I feel that right now I'm improving every week and it will happen for me at the right time.

"If I'm fortunate enough, hopefully make it to Europe."
