The Aston Villa right-back, on loan with Real Mallorca, took on the Real Madrid star in his sides 5-2 La Liga defeat on the weekend and although the Portuguese scored, Hutton's performance was well-received by the Spanish press.
Ahead of Scotland's meeting with Wales in Glasgow on Friday, Hutton indicated that he was ready to take on Dragons star Gareth Bale who is now being placed in the same class as Ronaldo.
"I played against Ronaldo a few times when he was at Manchester United," Hutton, who played with Bale at Tottenham, told SunSport.
"He is what he is, an unbelievable player.
"Just to play against somebody like that tests you to the limit of your ability.
"That is a great experience, something that has to help me improve as a player.
"I think it is perfect preparation for playing against Bale, because they're similar in how they play and what they're capable of doing to a team. If there is anybody you want to warm up against ahead of playing Bale, then it would be someone like Ronaldo. I'm fortunate I had the chance to do that.
"People talk about Bale being in the top bracket of players and I think he has all the attributes to be there.
"He's still young, that's what people forget. If he keeps progressing the way he's going, the sky is the limit.
"When I first got to Spurs he was just 18, I think, and you could tell right away that he was technically far in advance of anyone.
"He has matured as a player and a person.
"He's obviously doing really well at the moment."
