Southampton captain Jose Fonte was reveling in his Player of the Year award on Wednesday night.

The 31-year old defender picked up the Players' Player of the Season and the Fans' Player of the Season at the Saints' end-of-season awards night and admitted it was a great reward for his efforts in a successful season at St Mary's.

"It means everything. I joined five years ago when we were in League 1 and the journey that we've been on together has been quite amazing," Fonte said on the club's official website.

"Since the first minute I felt this was my home. I've found my place and the fact is that I've tried and I've improved every year, only with the help of these great supporters, all my teammates and the managers that I've had."
