PLAYER RATINGS: Australia unlucky in draw with Ghana

Australia were unlucky to be held to a 1-1 draw with Ghana in Rustenburg on Saturday night.

The return of Harry Kewell ended poorly when he was sent off in the 25th minute for handling the ball on the goal line which made life difficult for the rest of the Socceroos players but they performed admirably to gain a vital point ahead of their final group stage match against Serbia on Wednesday night (Thursday morning AEST).

Mark Schwarzer - 7 (Made a number of vital saves despite conceding penalty)

Lucas Neill - 6 (Was solid in defence, led his troops well)

Craig Moore - 5 (Did well on occasions but his lack of pace was evident, improved dramatically in second half)

Jason Culina - 6 (Quality distribution and a vital role as defensive midfielder)

Brett Emerton - 5 (Not as impressive as his first match but did his job)

Luke Wilkshire - 7 (Was a colossus at right-back but did miss a late goalscoring chance)

Harry Kewell - 3 (Unlucky to be sent off, a horror return)

Brett Holman - 7 (Brilliant finish for first goal, worked hard up front)

Carl Valeri - 6 (Had some down moments but was everywhere and passing was of high class)

Scott Chipperfield - 4 (Was lively when he came on but his missed header may have cost the match)

David Carney - 5 (Did well at left-back but did not provide much going forward)

Mark Bresciano - 6 (Free-kick provided first goal and he was solid until he came off for Chipperfield)

Josh Kennedy - 5 (Did little wrong but did not have much influence on the result)

Nikita Rukavytsya - 4 (Only came on for final few minutes)
