Platt says Man City going for FA Cup

Manchester City coach David Platt says they're going for the FA Cup this season.

City have no European football to look forward to with their Champions League ambitions shelved for another year.

And despite an unbeaten start to 2013 - they have yet to concede a goal - City trail Manchester United by five points in the League.

Platt said: "The 2011 win gave us a taste and a belief we can do it - and we want to do it again. The hunger is there and it's a great feeling.

"We were very disappointed when we went out in the third round last year because we had a taste for it.

"The target of this club is to win trophies, that's what we're set up to do.

"The manager wants to win everything he is in and it's important because when we set off every season we set off to win things.

"We feel we are involved in both competitions and feel we have the capability of winning both. The fact we went out of Europe means there is not really a backlog of games.

"If we continue to progress there is a league campaign, so we'll have to rearrange games but that shouldn't really put us off it."
