UEFA president Michel Platini has again delivered a staggering insult to Premiership clubs by declaring he wants Juventus to win the Champions League this season. Chelsea are unlikely to be impressed as they play Juventus in the first knockout stage when the competition resumes in February.
Platini will present the trophy to the winning captain and would like it to be Alessandro Del Piero of Juventus.
The Frenchman said: "I would love to give the Champions League to Juventus. I was in Turin when Del Piero stunned Iker Casillas of Real Madrid.
"I rose to my feet, not only because I am a Juventino but I think it was the goal of 2008."
Many would feel the UEFA president should be seen to be neutral because otherwise it could put pressure on referees who officiate Juventus's Champions League ties.
