Planned Ashley protests will not affect me says Newcastle's Carver

Newcastle United boss John Carver insists his team will not be affected by a fan boycott.

Magpies supporters groups have planned a protest against owner Mike Ashley for prior to next Saturday's home clash with Tottenham but Carver says he cannot worry about it as he has no control.

"People are entitled to do what they want to do, I can't do anything about that. The one thing I will say is I'll be focused on the team and things like that won't distract me." Sky Sports News HQ.

However, Carver has urged the fans to get behind the team in a bid to maintain the belief that Newcastle is 'united'.

"We're at the business end and I'm pleading, 'Get behind the team, give us your support, because it makes a difference'," he added.

"I think all supporters go to work, pay their money and they're entitled to do whatever they want to. The one thing I would say is we've had this in the past and the fans have got behind the team. That's important."

The same group who came up with the 'SackPardew' campaign to oust former manager alan Pardew have started the 'AshleyOut' movement in order to see the billionaire sell the north east club. They have organised a boycott ahead of the St James' Park clash with Spurs on April 19.
