Pirlo: I chose Juventus because we are most important club in world

Former AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo is pleased with his move to Juventus.

The Italian was officially presented to the media by his new club on Wednesday following his decision to accept a three-year deal.

"I chose Juventus because, along with Inter and Milan, it is the most important club in Italy, Europe and the world," he said.

"They also want to get back to winning. It has been a few years that they have been without success and my decision was based on this.

"I'm someone who likes to win and I believe this is a team with the greatest motivation to do that. This club wants to get back to its previous levels."

The 32-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Turin outfit whom he has always considered a force of Italian football.

"For me Juventus were the team to beat, a Scudetto rival and the games against them were always important," he added.

"There was a desire to beat them because they were always one of the strongest sides."

Pirlo has joined Juventus on a free transfer after opting against renewing his contract with Italian champions Milan.

"I wanted a change and Juventus allowed me this opportunity because they want to succeed. The desire to take them back to the top is massive."
