Pirlo chooses to stick with AC Milan over Chelsea move

AC Milan midfielder Andrea Pirlo has announced he won't be moving to Chelsea.

"Today is a wonderful day and I am very happy to end my career at Milan," Pirlo told Milan Channel.

"This is thanks to President Silvio Berlusconi, Adriano Galliani and Leonardo, who in taking me off the market gave me the opportunity to see out my career here.

"When they gave me this news, we were all happy. Finally this story can end and we can continue our adventure with the Rossoneri."

Pirlo had been offered a huge pay rise to join Chelsea, but the 2006 World Cup winner felt there were more important things to consider.

"There was this chance to change club and start a new adventure, but at the end of the day Milan and I agreed to carry on and we are all happier. It was a difficult summer with many doubts, but at the end the family is much happier to remain in Milan."
