Frederic Piquionne feels Portsmouth can survive in the Premier League if they can repeat the performance they produced at Chelsea. Pompey were denied a point at Stamford Bridge as Frank Lampard's penalty secured the leaders a 2-1 success on Wednesday night.
However, the Premiership's bottom club matched the title hopefuls for long periods and drew level early in the second half through Piquionne's second Premier League goal.
The striker is now hoping the performance will act as a springboard for Pompey's survival bid, with the club five points from safety.
"I think and I hope we have shown we can stay up, because that is what I've come into this club for," the on-loan forward told The News.
"I know the situation is difficult, but if we play like we did at Chelsea I think that we have enough quality to stay up.
"Hopefully things will be better in the next game now."
