Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has revealed how former teammate Cesc Fabregas chose Arsenal ahead of Real Madrid as a junior.

Pique, like Chelsea midfielder Cesc, was a Barca junior before leaving for Manchester United.

He revealed: "Cesc is one of the friends I have made in the football world, along with [Carles] Puyol.

"I knew that there was interest from [Real] Madrid as well in Cesc, but he felt that the club for him was the one that he was created in; the one he had lived for since he was little.

"It was tough [when he then left for Chelsea], on a football level, but also because one of my best friends in the team left."
