Stefano Pioli is battling to get his Palermo players to adjust to his new system.
The coach was drafted in from Chievo to replace Delio Rossi and began pre-season training eight days ago.
"Not much time has passed, but I am very happy with the way my players are working, as they're always focused, professional and ready," said Pioli.
"I have a great side at my disposal and this is why I can say I'm optimistic.
"Right from the first friendly games against local sides I want to see those first rules of the football we've been working on.
"We are introducing a whole new tactical system and need to become a team as quickly as possible."
