Stephen Pienaar is convinced a big performance at UEFA Cup opponents Fiorentina tonight will send a shockwave across Europe.

The South Africa midfielder told evertonTV: "Every player wants to play in the Champions League. After the World Cup, European Championships, the Champions League is the third biggest tournament and every player wants to play in the best competitions.

"And for me if we qualify it will be a bonus but I just hope everything will be sorted out at the end of the season," added Pienaar, who has played at the top level in Europe with Ajax.

"I think we will send a message out to Europe that Everton is not just Everton. We have got some special players in the team and the results show that. I think if we qualify we will be a surprise package."
