Kevin Phillips says Birmingham City's team spirit is crucial to the club's future on the field.

And the veteran striker, who has just penned a new one-year deal, insists any new arrival must be ready for the banter.

He said: "I've been at clubs where there's been good team spirit and here it's right up there too. That was what contributed to us finishing ninth and having such a strong season.

"We will need to recreate that this season. The new lads will have to adjust straight away to the team spirit and banter which I'm sure they will and there's no reason why we can't have another good campaign."
