Phillips like a bottle of wine - Blackpool’s Holloway

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has described veteran striker Kevin Phillips as ‘like a bottle of wine’.

The 38-year old has netted 12 goals mainly as a sub for the Seasiders this season and ahead of the weekend’s clash with Brighton & Hove Albion, Holloway says he is only getting better with age.

"I believe Kev will always score goals and it is great to have him around," Holloway told the Blackpool Gazette. "He has proved such an important player for us.

"He's like a bottle of wine - he gets better as he gets older and he has proved as good a free transfer as I have ever signed.

"If I could have played him in the Premier League last season I would have. Nobody scores goals better than him.”
