Philadelphia Union president Tom Veit is confident that the incoming expansion franchise will sell plenty of tickets in its debut season.

The Union have already sold 9,000 season tickets and Veit is certain the club will be able to sell out its 18,500-capacity stadium regularly after conducting an analysis based on current sales and trends in ticket purchases.

"I'm very confident we'll sell out, and could sell more if we had them," Veit said recently.

His confidence was backed by New York lawyer Irwin Kishner, who is also the chair of the sports/entertainment group at Herrick, which represent the New York Yankees baseball team.

"To sell half the stadium's capacity two months before the inaugural game is extremely promising, especially in this economy," Kishner said.

The Union are currently selling additional season tickets every day and there are plans to cap that at 12,000, leaving 6,500 seats which is good business considering it is only January and the 2010 MLS season does not kick off until late March.
