Villarreal midfielder Robert Pires has revealed that MLS' newest outfit Philadelphia Union have made enquiries about him.

The 36-year old France international confirmed the Union had made contact with him but said he had not yet discussed the possibilities of making the move to the USA.

"During the last few weeks I have been the subject of unjustified attacks and lies about my future," he told Mediterraneo.

"I have not travelled to France to talk with other teams. I went to London for a private matter and had the authorisation of Villarreal to go.

"I have received some calls about my future, not only from Philadelphia but from France and Spain as well."
