Philadelphia Union president Nick Sakiewicz is determined to land Stoke City midfielder Maurice Edu.
Reports suggest that the Union chief has travelled across the Atlantic to England in a bid to finalize a potential deal for the 27-year old former Toronto FC and Rangers man.
During the week, Union head coach John Hackworth told SiriusXM FC that he was confident of landing the USA international.
"All parties have been diligent about trying to come to the table and negotiate in a way that can work out for everybody," Hackworth said. "So I'm very hopeful we'll be able to announce that signing in the very near future."
In addition, ESPN analyst Taylor Twellman, formerly a striker of the New England Revolution and the US team, tweeted that Sakiewicz had travelled to the UK to hold further talks with the Potters.
