Philadelphia Union fan bus attacked by New York fans

The Philadelphia Union fan bus was attacked by New York Red Bull fans outside Red Bull Arena following the derby on the weekend.

Despite winning 2-1, Red Bull supporters threw rocks at the bus, cracking three windows and showing an ugly side of soccer that is not seen often in the US.

Generally, travelling fans are treated well by the home team in MLS but on this occasion, the hooliganism of the world game raised its weary head and marred a good contest between two well-supported clubs.

Hopefully this type of thing does not occur with too much frequency as there is no place for it in today's game.
