Philadelphia Union, Chivas USA coaches banned and fined by MLS

Philadelphia Union head coach Peter Nowak has been suspended and fined by Major League Soccer.

The Union boss left his technical area during the weekend's match with Chivas USA where he entered the pitch and initiated contact with an opposition players.

For his actions, Nowak has been suspended for an additional one game and has been fined $5,000. In addition, Chivas head coach Robin Fraser has been fined $500 for leaving his team's technical area and crossing the pitch.

Nowak was dismissed from the sideline by the referee and therefore received an automatic one-game suspension and fine. He will serve the first game of his suspension April 28 when the Union host the San Jose Earthquakes; he will serve the additional game suspension issued by the Commissioner on May 5 when the Union travel to face Seattle Sounders FC.

Philadelphia Union has also been fined $5,000 for the behavior of its players and team staff whilst Chivas USA has been fined $2,500 for the same reason.
