Philadelphia Union announce partnership with bakery firm Bimbo

MLS club Philadelphia Union has announced a sponsorship agreement with Mexico-based bakery Bimbo.

The Union have entered a multi-million dollar partnership with Bimbo who have become the club's major shirt sponsor.

Details of the deal have been revealed with the team entering a four-year deal, believed to be worth around $12million but some sections of Union supporters have raised their concern about the name of the company.

"Are you kidding me?" one fan posted on Philly.com. "We're going to be laughingstock of the league."

But president of the Sons of Ben supporters group, Bryan James, told the same website that it was simply a name and in time it wouldn't matter too much.

"It's wonderful that a company of that size would take the opportunity to invest in our local team. It's the perfect product placement. It's the perfect venue for a sponsor," he said.
