Everton captain Phil Jagielka says fans are right to be excited about next season.

The Blues signed off from Goodison Park this season with victory over Watford.

“You can see the optimism among the fans," Jagielka said. “They can see what we are trying to do here on and off the pitch.

“The Chairman has done fantastically well bringing in the new shareholders. We have been able to spend some money and we have been desperate to do that for a while.

“Hopefully this is the start of something exciting."
