Phil Jagielka eager to play out career with Everton

Everton captain Phil Jagielka has declared he wants to play out his career at Goodison Park.

Jagielka signed a one year contract extension this summer that ties him down until the summer of 2017.

"I'd love to finish my career at Everton," Jagielka told the Liverpool Echo.

"I am proud that I have only played for two clubs. Sheff United gave me my chance in football and so they will always have a special place in my heart.

"But I will have been at Everton for 10 years by the time my contract finishes, which is a pretty long stint, but there is life in the old dog yet.

"Hopefully I can keep playing, keep improving and hopefully extend my deal beyond the three years."
