Phelan urges Hull fans to stick with them

Hull City boss Mike Phelan has urged fans to stand by the players after their draw with West Brom.

Phelan believes Hull City supporters should realise their team is performing far better than expected - even though they remain in the bottom three.

Phelan, whose side were booed off as they trailed 1-0 at half-time, said: "Football fans get as frustrated as anyone. We've all been there.

"We can get a little bit hysterical about certain things and supporters can get a little bit irate. They're entitled to do that and I think it's good. They're showing passion about their club.

"But I think we have to take stock of where we are. We're in a position that no-one expected us to be in.

"We're above where everyone thought we should be. We know it's going to be tough all the way through the season."
