PFA chief Gordon Taylor is now on more than the average Premier League footballer.
The Daily Mail says his pay package rocketed by almost £2million last year.
Taylor's pay and benefits package of almost £3.4million in 2014 is likely to send the wrong message to football fans, who are already facing a rise in ticket prices.
The 2014 pay package included a salary of £2.9million, with £31,626 in benefits and a further £404,412 in national insurance contributions, according to accounts filed at the Certification Office, which monitors trade union finances.
The benefits included £24,466 for a car, £5,005 for private medical insurance and £1,688 for a telephone.
In 2013, in comparison, his total remuneration package was £1.4million, which included a salary of £1.1million and benefits of £34,769.
