The PFA are supporting Sol Campbell in his bid to join a new club before the January transfer window.

Under Fifa rules, Campbell is barred from signing for another club until the new year after he walked out on Notts County last month.

"He can make an appeal to the Premier League, to Sir David Richards [the chairman] and Richard Scudamore [the chief executive] with regard to the reasons why he should be given special exemption to sign for another club [before January]. And I think he might want to do that," Gordon Taylor, the PFA's chief executive, said.

"There would be a few hoops to jump through and he would have to cite exceptional circumstances."
