Petrovic hits back: I never blanked West Ham players

Zeljko Petrovic is unhappy over the way he was portrayed by the media while No2 at West Ham United.

Petrovic was shown the door at West Ham last month and has since been appointed coach of J-League giants Urawa Red Diamonds.

"When I read these things, I thought: How is it possible?!! What did I do wrong?" exclaimed Petrovic.

"As a coach I need to defend myself. Of course I was communicative with the players. At Feyenoord they called me the 'chatty Yugoslav'.

"Look, you can accuse me of anything. You can find me a bad coach, you can say that I am not the right tactical operator, but to say I do not communicate ... that's my strongest area!

"At every club I've worked, I am still welcomed with open arms. Boavista, RKC Waalwijk, Feyenoord, HSV, West Ham United. Why do you think I'm back at Urawa Red Diamonds? Because I am an annoying guy to deal with?

"Look, these things do not bother me. But I need to defend myself against such wrong accusations."
