English Championship club Peterborough United have ended their interest in Millwall defender Zak Whitbread. The 25-year old American has been placed on the transfer list at Millwall and was linked with a move to The Posh but manager Darren Ferguson said a deal could not be done because of the players wage demands.
"We did have contact with Millwall and I understand we had a bid accepted. We spoke with the player, but we won't be going ahead with the deal because his wage demands were too high," Ferguson told the Peterborough Evening Telegraph.
"There is no doubt that Zak is a quality player, but it's now not a position we need cover for."
