Peterborough boss Johnson to pay for supporters travel

Gary Johnson has pledged to spend £1,000 of his own money on the cost of Peterborough supporters travelling to Walsall. Posh boss Johnson wants a bumper crowd to turn out for the visit of League One leaders Brighton to London Road this Saturday, and if over 10,000 attend he will dip into his pocket to help pay for the trip to the Banks's Stadium on November 2.

Johnson said: "Brighton are expected to bring about 3,500 fans, so we should be able to attract more than 10,000 to the game.

"Our own fans were again fantastic at Brentford on Saturday and I felt so sorry for them after the game. I want to prove that the players do care when they play badly, that we do all work hard after a bad result and that they do take on board what I say to them and respond in the right way.

"So, if we win on Saturday and the crowd is in excess of 10,000, I will put £1,000 of my own money towards the away travel for the Walsall match. It will be a small price to pay if the crowd helps to cheer us to victory.

"I really believe in the potential of this club. The atmosphere at London Road has been very good this season and even more noise will give us an extra edge."
