Peterborough boss Ferguson in no rush to reach Premiership

Peterborough United's young manager Darren Ferguson isn't desperate about working in the Premiership.

Ferguson, the son of Manchester United manager Sir Alex, admits the prospect of managing in the Premier League "scares" him, mindful of the way that his friend Paul Ince was sacked by Blackburn six months after he led MK Dons to promotion from League Two.

He told the Daily Mail: "The Premier League is scary. Three bad results and you're under pressure.

"It doesn't reflect well on young managers and I'd like to think clubs would have more patience.

"I felt for Ince because he had done well at Macclesfield - most people who played at his level would never have taken that job. Then he did well at MK Dons, but he will be back.

"It gets harder as you move up the league because suddenly everyone is a millionaire. Then the art is about man-management. I think that's why the old man has done well with different teams, dealing with their egos and their personalities. United have a good leader and the players have a work ethic."
