Peter Reid would go with Liverpool pair Sturridge and Milner at Euro2016

Peter Reid has told Sky Sports News HQ that if he were England manager, he would start both James Milner and Daniel Sturridge in his XI.

The former England international and Manchester City and Sunderland manager suggests the Liverpool pair would make a great impact in Roy Hodgson's starting line-up if they were to be selected.

Reid would go with a 4-2-3-1 formation, including Milner as a dependable holding midfielder, and playing Sturridge as a dynamic forward on the right side of an attacking three behind striker Harry Kane.

"I would go with Hart in goal. Across the back it's going to be (Kyle) Walker, (Chris) Smalling, (Gary) Cahill and (Danny) Rose," said Reid.

"What I'd do in the middle of the park, I'd go with two holding midfielders. I'd go with Milner - he's a consistent type of player who doesn't give the ball away - and (Eric) Dier.

"The three in front of him, Dele Alli has got to play on the left side for me because he's been outstanding. (Wayne) Rooney I'd play in there, in terms of going forward, but as he showed in the FA Cup final [against Crystal Palace] he goes back and makes tackles.

"On the right side, if he's fit, I've seen him play plenty in this position, I'd go with Sturridge. He's another one with pace who can get a goal.

"Up front I'm sorry to say (Jamie) Vardy would miss out and I'd go with Kane but we've got a lot of exciting and talented players on the bench."
