Pescara president Sebastiani: Italian football cannot afford Verratti

Pescara president Daniele Sebastiani says there was no way they were going to sell Marco Verratti on the cheap.

The likes of Juventus and Napoli made attempts for the midfielder, before he was withdrawn from the market by Pescara.

"In this market they [Serie A clubs] are not running with a lot of money," the President told Il Centro.

"So far, all we have had proposed for Verratti has been player exchanges. The only plausible hypothesis would be a good offer from abroad.

"We'll see what happens. Right now, Marco is happy here and next year we can find clubs that will pay twice as much."
