Sydney FC striker John Aloisi admitted the 3-2 win over Perth Glory yesterday was a massive result for the team.
Aloisi scored twice in the second half to guide the Sky Blues to a vital victory at Parramatta Stadium that set up a blockbuster this weekend against league leaders Melbourne Victory at the Sydney Football Stadium.
If Sydney win that match, they take out the minor premiership but Aloisi is aware they will have to improve their form to achieve that.
"It was a tough game. We probably didn't play as well as we would have liked but it was exciting for the fans and a massive win for us. It keep our top two hopes alive," Aloisi said.
"I was happy to get on the scoresheet but it was more important to get the three points.
"It is a massive game next week and we are expecting a huge crowd. The players can't wait, every footballer wants to play in a big game."
Sydney host Melbourne next Sunday, February 14 at Sydney Football Stadium in their final home and away match before the finals commence - kick-off is at 5:00pm.
