Perth Glory are on the verge of signing central midfielder Jacob Burns. The 31-year old is currently playing in Romania with Unirea Urziceni but looks set to join the A-League club as soon as the deal is finalised.

It is believed that Burns will sign a three-year deal and when that is complete will join pre-season training at the end of the month.

"I've known Jacob for many years and he's a bit of a character," said Glory coach Dave Mitchell.

"He is a good player and he is a great signing.

"And Burns, he is a winner, he is very competitive and on the fringes of the Socceroos, although I know Pim Verbeek is very fond of him.

"So he does not see it is a disadvantage coming back to the A-League. He thinks coming back here will enhance his chances."

Burns has also had stints with Polish club Wisla Krakow along with English clubs Barnsley and Leeds United.
