Perth Glory's Todd set to start this weekend

Perth Glory defender Andy Todd is expected to make his first start for the season this weekend.

Last term's Glory Player of the Year has made just two substitute appearances as he returns from knee surgery but will gain a start in Friday night's away clash with Newcastle Jets.

Perth coach Dave Mitchell confirmed that the former Derby County man would be ready to slot straight into his starting line-up.

"Andy's ready now," said Mitchell.

"He's had a couple of good weeks training under his belt and he's ready to play now, so Andy will slot in there (in defence)."

Mitchell is aware that Newcastle will be a tough opponent despite the fact they are yet to record a win this so far this season.

"They're a good side, they've been playing some good football and not getting the result," he added.

"So it's a dangerous game for us and one that we want to bounce back after last week.

"Newcastle, they'll be desperate for a win. It's unfortunate what's happening at the club at the moment and we wish them well, but not on the park when we play."
