Perth Glory's Fowler offer trumps Sydney FC

Reports suggest that Robbie Fowler is being offered plenty more to join the Perth Glory than what Sydney FC are offering him.

The North Queensland Fury's marquee man is believed to be considering both offers but Perth's is much more lucrative as they are offering up to $750,000 whilst the Sky Blues have set the mark at $400,000 as they are also attempting to lure Crystal Palace's Nick Carle back to Australia.

It is also believed that Fowler's career at the Fury is over as the financially strapped Townsville club cannot afford to keep him.

Fowler's agent George Scott confirmed that the Fury have little chance of keeping the former Liverpool star.

"I heard a couple of weeks before they weren't going to keep him anyway and the FFA was saying he's too expensive," said Scott.

"As far as I'm concerned, their onus is on keeping the club a club, which I admire them for, especially when Australia are making a bid for the World Cup, so they have to keep them afloat.

"But there was no way they were ever going to try and make him part of the North Queensland ongoing operation, which I think is wrong.

"Robbie went there with a purpose. He is a world-renowned player and he hoped to take them on and with a bit of work he could have done it."
