Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell is looking forward to the pre-season friendly with newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Mitchell believes it will be great for both players and fans having a Premier League club in Perth and has praised club owner Tony Sage for pursuing the event.

"Hopefully it will give the players a bit of a launch pad into the season," Mitchell told the West Australian.

"We want to create a bit of excitement this season and playing a Premier League club like Wolves is great. The fact that they'll spend the whole time in Perth is a bit of a coup for the club.

"Since I've been in Perth there have been a lot of knockers for one reason or another," Mitchell added.

"But Tony is trying to put things in place to generate excitement around the club."
