Perth coach Mitchell likely to rest key players

Perth Glory coach Dave Mitchell wants to keep some of his injured stars fresh for the finals so may not risk them in Saturday's last home and away match against Brisbane Roar.

A number of Glory starters including skipper Jacob Burns, star striker Mile Sterjovski, number one goalkeeper Tando Velaphi and key midfielders Adriano Pellegrino and Victor Sikora are all under injury clouds and Mitchell is likely to keep them wrapped in cotton wool despite the fact the Glory need to win to finish in the top four and grab a home final.

"We want to play the game, we want to win the game, we want to get as high as we can up in the league," he said.

"You don't want to risk players and make sure they're available for the week after which is the most important thing."
