A personal call from Carlo Ancelotti convinced James Rodriguez to quit Real Madrid for Bayern Munich.
Ancelotti worked with James at Real and used his influence to convince the Colombian to move to Munich.
Javier Hernández Bonnet, sports director of Canal Caracol, revealed to the local media: "James was scheduled to travel to Madrid on Sunday, but on Friday he was called by Ancelotti, something he did not have scheduled because he had notice from Madrid that Monday he had to appear.
"James told Ancelotti, 'I'm coming, I'm going to call Jorge Mendes'."
James signed for Bayern on Tuesday on a two-year loan with the option to join permanently.
